What is a bridal session?

You’ve searched online, made appointments, been zipped and buttoned into lace, beading, taffeta, crepe and tulle and found THE dress that was made for you. You’ve pinned makeup methods and hair styles for your team and can almost picture yourself in it all, ready for your big day. Almost.

Many brides decide to have a bridal session a month prior to their wedding day so that they can fully picture themselves in everything that they so carefully selected, have confidence in the fit of their gown and posing, and to have portraits created that can be displayed at the wedding. Often, mom and sisters join us so they can have this special time together.

This “dress rehearsal” often takes place at the venue, but many times allows for a second location. The Dallas Arboretum is my favorite alternative. To schedule this along with the Hair and makeup trial run, we typically plan for weekdays approximately 1.5 hours before sunset.

Remember to bring a crochet hook to help with your dress buttons and a bouquet even if it is not the same as what you will have on your wedding day. Also note that if you do get a spray tan, make sure your hands aren’t orange. Your gallery will be ready within a week and I will give you recommendations for printing. Bridal sessions are an optional add-on with any of my packages or can be traded in place of the engagement session. There is no pressure to “say yes to the” bridal session, just the offering of one if it is important to you.

I want you to feel as free and pretty as that little girl spinning in her fluffy dress that you were years before. I want you to see yourself as artfully and uniquely created as our Father does. I want you to see joy and beauty in every part of your wedding experience.
